New rustic bridge installed

The new rustic bridge recently installed in Lightwoods Park as part of the restoration, is based on the design taken from an old photograph of the bridge that was there circa 1925. The fence around this area is being painted and the new pond and wildlife area will be open later on this month.

The bridge crosses over the new weir installed as part of the pond area to help improve site drainage. The pond when full flows over the weir to a wetland area to help slow the flow of water in flood conditions and creates a wildlife area. The pond and wetland area will be planted up in due course, not that the ducks could wait, some Mallards have already moved in!
