A message from Cherie…

Dear Friend of Lightwoods Park and House

I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year!

I hope had a fantastic festive break and are now looking forward to the Lightwoods Park and House Restoration project which will be commencing on site later this year (October 2014 onwards).

Officers from the Project Team would like to invite you to an interactive workshop which will cover the following:

  1. The Lightwoods Park 2014 Annual Events Programme (and suggestions for future house and park events).
  2. A Lightwoods Park and House Volunteer Programme.
  3. A skills audit and a resulting proposed Volunteer Training Programme.
  4. Monitoring and Evaluation requirements for the restoration project – how you can help and how we can measure the outcomes of the project.

The workshop will take place on:

Wednesday 29th January 2014 6.30pm – 8.30pm

at Thimblemill Library.

Please do your very best to attend the workshop as the above programmes which we will be developing during the workshop are a major element of the Heritage Lottery Funded project and are something you can directly contribute to and benefit from. If you would like to help with the organisation of this workshop please get in touch with me.

Below I have attached some information with regard to a Bandstand app that you can download onto your mobile phone and listen to as you walk around the bandstand at Lightwoods Park. It is worth a listen as it tells a great story and features some well known park users.

On a different note, we would like to host a “Blitz the Winter Blues” volunteer day in Lightwoods Park on Saturday 8th February 2014, 10.00am – 2.00pm. The day will focus on tidying up the Shakespeare Garden, playground and skate park, park extension and the drinking fountains. Why not make a real difference this New Year and come and give us a hand for however long you can? Everyone is welcome.

Kind regards,

Cherie O’Sullivan

Lightwoods Park Project Officer
